Sources: Commanders address CB need by agreeing to terms with Rasul Douglas
The nine-year veteran bolsters Washington's shaky outside depth and provides another start candidate.

Turns out that the Washington Commanders agreed with Last Man Standig: Their cornerback room needed help.
Enter Rasul Douglas, a nine-year veteran who is expected to sign a 1-year contract with Washington, league sources sources told Last Man Standig.
Douglas, 30, started 28 games over the past two seasons with the Bills and Dolphins. The 6-foot-2 veteran provides significant starting experience, size and much needed outside CB depth.
Washington and Douglas’ camp discussed this possibility for several weeks before agreeing to an incentive-laden contract valued up to $3.8 million.
Douglas isn't an automatic Day 1 starter even though questions exist across the position room.
Washington’s projected top CB, second-year player Trey Amos, did not participate in the offseason program after suffering a fractured fibula last season.
Mike Sainristil, another second round pick, had half of the Commanders’ eight interceptions last season. However, he labored covering slot receivers. Though better on the perimeter, which is where he'll play often this season, the 5-foot-10 Sainristil will often be at a size disadvantage against outside receivers.
Free agent signee Amik Robertson has a similar measurables profile as Sainristil, but is better suited at the slot.
From there, Washington was looking at a mix of older veterans (Ahkello Witherspoon and Antonio Hamilton), lightly used players and UDFA types including rookie Fred Davis II.
Douglas entered the league as a 2017 third-round pick by the Eagles. After three seasons in Philadelphia, he landed in Carolina, Green Bay and Buffalo before spending 2025 in Miami.
Douglas had two interceptions with the Dolphins and 21 over his career that includes 135 games played and 93 starts. According to PFF, he played 718 snaps last season as a boundary corner with reps split evenly on the left and right side.
ESPN first reported the contract terms.

Ben, it's about time Commanders start listening to you.
It would be a huge blow to lose Amos so early in his career to an injury. Sure felt like Peters landed a first round talent late in the second round. I sure hope Amos is NOT part of the main area of concern.
